~20years ago I got tired of my old wooden windows, the hassle of swapping the storms and screens twice a year, and watching the paint flake off mainly because I know jack about painting and am lazy enough to take shortcuts which you can't do and expect a long-lasting paint job. So I had new windows installed, vinyl so you don't have to paint, double pane so they don't need storms, and they tilt in for cleaning. Yay! But then I realized I need a third hand to hold the tilted in sashes while I sprayed and wiped down the glass. So I made what you see below out of a mop handle and scrap wood. The 'tongue' that the window sash rests on slides on the pole and its hole is just big enough that it can slide up or down to accommodate windows of varying heights but when some weight is added to its surface it 'locks' in place.
And this is where I got the idea for the sliding wood 'tongue'... a co-worker used to make toys/gizmos and he made a woodpecker toy similar to what's in this video; https://youtu.be/s3YSnNAIHDg

Still have about 35' more to go on a ramp....Mostly straight with a few bends....Then two more freestanding ones going up some stairs, kinda like this one but shorter and more of an angle...Going to be a PITA since there's going to be foot traffic right next to me as I work.

I thought the same thing.
I just assumed that in other parts of the country, their windows don't get power washed from rain and wind storms.
Your rain must be clean then, ours isn't. Actually, the true culprit is the screens; air moving through them deposits pollution onto them, and then the rain moves it from the screens to the glass.

I gotta admit, it's not something I really ever considered.
I suppose they must need cleaning sometime. But every time I look out them, they seem to be pretty clear.
In Fumo Pax Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
It's like wearing glasses; they get dirty/dusty/smudged, but we often don't notice because we're not focusing on the lens but on the object further out we're looking at. It's also one of those things that, until it's done, you don't realize how much it was needed. I do it at most once a year, and it takes me an hour. Last year I didn't clean the windows, so now that they're clean and the sun's out, it's a pretty drastic difference.

I've been working on one of my Wheel Forms. Gas chainsaw, electric chainsaw, carbide burrs, cabinet makers rasps, and carving gouges. I had a crack or two so I
inletted some bowties. I will carve a small random pattern over the whole piece and finish with oil. 12 hours with a rasp to get the form to where I want it.

Had to make a mini truck of my service truck. 😄
Gonna have to remake it, cause some details needed changing and it needs some finish work, like paint, etc.
But turned out pretty decent.

Very nice. Looks like it could have been made with a 3-D printer.... 👍👍👍

The bed and components on the bed were all made with my son's 3D printer.

You wash your windows?

Roll cages are easier but more time consuming....Less bends, more triangulations.
Pretty smart, Peter. I enjoyed watching the woodpecker in slo motion too.

I put this together.

Need a split rim to mount that.
In the past three months I have sold three Wheel forms. My gallery takes half and cigars take the other half. Sculpting for cigars.

That's great, Wade.
