as long as the dividends and bonuses are protected all's good, lol. Consumers and tax payers are going to pay dearly for this kind of maneuver.

    Massive furloughs at Disney

The financial toll of COVID-19 is building up at the Mouse House as Disney (NYSE:DIS) stops paying more than 100,000 employees this week, or nearly half of its workforce. That will leave staff reliant on state benefits (though healthcare benefits will still be given in full), even as the company protects executive bonuses and a $1.5B dividend payment due in July. The decision will save Disney up to $500M a month across its theme parks and hotels, which have been shut in Europe and the U.S. for almost five weeks.

Well, look at the bright side: The execs will be able to blow their bonuses on nice tuxedos to wear to Kennedy Center. So there's that.

I never knew this until today... explains a lot...

"In 1984, de Blasio worked for the Urban Fellows Program at the New York City Department of Juvenile Justice.[27][28] In 1987, shortly after completing graduate school at Columbia, de Blasio was hired to work as a political organizer by the Quixote Center in Maryland. In 1988, he traveled with the Quixote Center to Nicaragua for 10 days to help distribute food and medicine during the Nicaraguan Revolution. De Blasio was an ardent supporter of the ruling socialist government, the Sandinista National Liberation Front, which was opposed by the Reagan administration at the time.[28] After returning from Nicaragua, de Blasio moved to New York City, where he worked for a nonprofit organization focused on improving health care in Central America.[28] He continued to support the Sandinistas in his spare time and joined a group called the Nicaragua Solidarity Network of Greater New York, which held meetings and fundraisers for the Sandinista political party.[28] De Blasio's introduction to city politics came in 1989, when he worked as a volunteer coordinator for David Dinkins' mayoral campaign.[29] Following the campaign, de Blasio was an aide in City Hall.[30][29] In 1990, he described himself as an advocate for democratic socialism when asked about his goals for society.[28]

“Breaking: Michigan sends absentee ballots to 7.7 million people ahead of Primaries and the General Election,” Trump tweeted. “This was done illegally and without authorization by a rogue Secretary of State. I will ask to hold up funding to Michigan if they want to go down this Voter Fraud path!
    — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 20, 2020

Trump copied Acting Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and the Treasury Department on his tweet about Michigan and also copied Vought and the Treasury Department on the post about Nevada.

Benson responded to Trump's tweet, correcting him by saying that the state "sent applications, not ballots" and pointing out that Republican secretaries of state have done the same.

Hi! I also have a name, it’s Jocelyn Benson. And we sent applications, not ballots. Just like my GOP colleagues in Iowa, Georgia, Nebraska and West Virginia. https://t.co/kBsu4nHvOy

The State Media Authority in North Rhine Westphalia have threatened Naomi Seibt with a thousand euros in fines, plus two hundred euros "costs", as well as two weeks prison. Her crime? She posts YouTube vids with messages like this:

Hello, everyone. My name is Naomi Seibt and I am a new member at the Heartland Institute. And I’ve got very good news for you. The world is not ending because of climate change. In fact, 12 years from now we will still be around, casually taking photos on our iPhone 18s, Tweeting about the current President on Twitter and ranting about the latest celebrity gossip.

    Can't have that.

Heck with Space Force; what we really need here in the USA is a new State Media Authority.

    ......................................
BTW -- Will Space Force Academy field a football team? What's their mascot? Anyone heard their anthem?

You can no more keep Hong Kong free forever than you could keep East Berlin Soviet forever... and for the same reason.
