Will everyone have to "present papers" when ever they go out?
Or will we get tattoos with our vaccination number on them?
Don't get me wrong. I'm all for a vaccine. Provided it does the job without making a mess of things. But this is seeming to become a mandatory thing.

The real point is that there are no rules anymore. Vaccinated people don't have to wear masks, but all the anti maskers and anti-vaxxers are going to not wear them as well. Then they will belly ache about how we could have done this last year and how we could have saved the economy and how we could have saved the madman's presidency. They'll whine about how this is a conspiracy and how nobody could make them mask up and how nobody can make them vaccine up.
What they won't tell you is that 118 million people have gotten both doses and are fully vaccinated, well another 30 million are in between shots and another million people a day are getting the shot for the first time, which was The promised rate by the current president and which will grow now that children have a vaccine. That 118 million figure fire exceeds 33% when you consider that nobody under the age of 16 was allowed to get a shot until Thursday of last week.
What they won't also tell you is that there are severe long-term effects for perfectly healthy young people who have had covid-19. A certain percentage has permanent respiratory problems now. A percentage greater than that has long-term temporary respiratory problems. A percentage greater than that has medium term, 6 months or more, lost of smell or taste. In a percentage greater than that will have some other sort of medium term medium intensity affliction that will give them health problems down the line.
Of course, that's only according to fauci and the CDC so those anti-masters and anti-vaxxers won't believe it because those guys were against Trump and Trump is God.
I guess I'm in playoff hockey mode today. Carry on.

So you’re equating this to the Nazis extermination of the Jews?
I think he's comparing it to the precursor to the nazis exterminating the Jews.
Then just a misguided attempt at poorly placed humor on his part?
The yellow star gimmick actually dates back to the middle ages. Not a not-see invention any more than the beanie. Somebody needs a chill pill.
I never promised you a good joke; only lots of them.

Offense is a thing most often taken, so rarely given. It must have some sorta hidden allure. Some future researcher will prolly demonstrate to us how taking offense releases endorphins.
Anyhoo, orange man bad and all that happy schmidt.
I just bought a Venturi pipe on eBay, just $22.50 free shpg, so I'm a happy guy.

Listened to an interview with Dr. Fauci the other night. He mentioned, in a casual offhand way, that the groundwork done by the previous administration is largely responsible for the ability to vaccinate so many so quickly now.
Of course, half the country won't want to hear that fact. Which is too bad. If only more people on "both sides" were able to see that we're all on the same side. We're the humans the virus is attacking and killing. I hope the current administration continues to follow up. It's good for you, me, everyone in the world.
My feelings? Get vaccinated! Duh! How many of your friends and family have had Smallpox? Literally a no-brainer.

God damn people are sensitive nowadays. I'm a lot younger than a lot of the guys on this site, and back in my day, when you were told to do something you just f****** did it because it was your responsibility. I remember reading about a generation of people who thought it was their responsibility to liberate France. Glad Hitler's not around today, the Jews would be on their own.
Guess what. Mandatory. Live with it. Maybe if everyone treated it seriously a year ago, we wouldn't be sitting here 15 months later praising the Lord the master finally gone. PS, I'm still wearing mine. I'm afraid of this damn disease even though I'm vaccinated.

How naive to believe anti-maskerteers won't lie if it suits them.

From experience.... most anti-maskers claim “medical reasons” and go without. Most stores direct them to the website and offer curb side pickup. It’s not a “Right” to enter a private business. Businesses can set their safety protocol as the e see fit as long as it didn’t break laws, codes, HIPAA etc
Actually, in the days of the small pox and polio vaccination, it wasn't mandatory.
Yes, if you were attending a public school, you would get the shots because public schools required vaccinations in those days.
But home school and some private schools were not required.
And there were parents that their beliefs were that vaccinations were not something they would do.
In the 60s, there was some controversy on vaccines and there were parents who challenged whether or not their children needed them. .
The difference between the small pox and polio vaccine and the covid vaccine is that the small pox and polio vaccines had been tested for quite some time before it was released to schools.
There were rare side effects, but those same side effects could be associated with any vaccination, not just small pox or polio vaccines.
The Covid vaccine has limited experience and some known side effects, although fairly rare.
Still, when the medical industry has mixed sentiments towards it, there is a concern.
I'm sorry, but if you believe that people always did what they were told, then this country would never have made it this far. This country is based on the freedom of choice and questioning authority.
It is one of the main premises behind this country.
Do I believe that the vaccines should be given? Yes.
Do I believe they are safe yet? The jury is still out on that.
I have heard doctors say yes and some say not 100% sure (which makes one question their confidence in it), my cardiologist recommends I wait until my heart is doing better.
So that is my opinion, not worth much, but there it is.
In Fumo Pax Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
Fair enough ^ but my comments on "mandatory" were in response to Dave's assertion that people in general don't like to be told to put on a mask, but would do it if they were asked nicely.
I still say boo hoo to that. Masks, like the disease itself, were politicized from the beginning because the madman didn't want to cover his face. The talking heads all fell in line, then the sheep all followed the talking heads....right to the slaughterhouse.
Masks were a societal test that everyone failed: a mask doesn't protect you from everyone's covid, but protects everyone from your covid. That being the case, the anti maskers said "mind control device," even though their minds were controlled by the trumpkin in chief.

@VegasFrank
I think part of the problem with the mask thing, at least around here, is politicians were so wishy washy about it. One minute, they were saying we are fine not wearing them.
Next thing, we should be wearing them. Then we must wear them.
Even Fauchi or what ever couldn't seem to have a solid idea of it
Add to it, that they were saying we will be fine in 6 wweks max.
Over a year later, here we are.
Not real inspiring for most folks.
Wow, you really have some hatred for Trump.
Never understood that. A madman?
How so?
It always amazes me when folks preach god and all, the harbor hatred like that.
In Fumo Pax Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
This is what happens when you let politics influence your decision on public health. I think that every single doctor who worked at the CDC wanted people to mask up immediately and stay home and isolate immediately, but that was not politically palatable to everyone, both sides, who was in office who was depending on a good economy or good working conditions or a good beach life or a good whatever in order to get reelected. Dr fauci and the other people who work for CDC's and local and state health departments could not give actual advice during this time because they worked for politicians who demanded answers and and who demanded a flattened curve and who demanded restaurants and beaches and bars and parlors be open within six to eight weeks.
That's why we are where we are today. Why did China and South Korea both open back up without much more than a small whimper about covid-19, yet here we are 15 months later still wearing masks and working from home? It's because they actually f****** stopped life for real for 15 weeks and then treated the disease like radioactive material from then on. There were no grocery stores to go to. There was no interaction with people outside your family.
Meanwhile here in the good old USA, idiot kids were having beach parties and house parties. Trump's accolades were refusing to wear masks and refusing to acknowledge that covid-19 was even a problem, even in February. Even in March! Even in April! Demagogues like the madman were telling people that we're going to have packed churches for Easter and packed houses for Thanksgiving and packed carnivals for the 4th of July. He was wrong. Bigly wrong.#terrible!
Speaking of the madman, that's exactly what he was and I'm sorry that I'm calling the president that some of you really liked a madman. What other name would you give to someone whose actions in totality resulted in the insurrection of a capital by people draped in flags? Donald Trump is Jim Jones and David koresh and Epstein and Stalin and Mussolini all rolled into one.
Here's a guy who sat down and had a beautiful little lunch with the biggest terrorist in the world, and called him a great man. The juxtaposition between how he treated Kim Jong and the things that he said about John McCain, both before and after the campaign, make me throw up in my mouth. Kim Jong is a great man because he kissed the ring of the American president. Meanwhile John McCain was a coward for getting captured and then again after he stood up to Trump and gave his famous thumbs down to the bill. Trump openly admits that he grabs women by the pussie and doesn't pay minority workers for work that he ontracted them to do and he completely lies to the American people and pays people to lie to the American people as a sitting president about the most ridiculous crap like how he had more people at his inauguration than Obama. His disciples and his acolytes and his allies and his voters then sheepishly say that's just Trump being Trump. Unacceptable! Unacceptable! Unacceptable! He willingly annoyingly lies, despite classified briefings from the people who he appointed to the offices that they hold, about fundamentally important topics like the 2020 election and covid-19, to try to steer the narrative toward his direction, even when that results in a whole segment of the population feeling disenfranchised about how elections are stolen And even though it results in people refusing to practice social distancing to their own detriment and sometimes death! Why? So he could open up the economy and get reelected?
All of this is ridiculous ego feeding WrestleMania crowd stirring disgusting cowardly petulant over the top demagoguery that culminated in his inciting a crowd of his own allies to overrun The single most important symbol of freedom in the entire world while he and his son video blogged giggles and smiles with Gloria playing in the background like a couple of hello Kitty wearing Japanese schoolgirls. That is a building and a symbol and an ideal that I have given my entire adult life toward defending. I have missed holidays and birthdays and births and deaths and funerals and have gone to funerals of people who died defending the ideals represented by the building that Guy has absolutely no respect for whatsoever. He can kiss my ass suck my **** f*** himself and die all at the same time for all I care. He's a b@stard a madman a fückwad a piece of sun baked dog ****. Gee do you think I don't like the guy?
The majority of people who voted for him, according to a Wall Street journal poll showed that they voted for him because of their disdain of Hillary Clinton. Those votes were not for him, they were against Clinton! I caucused for John Kasich, and ultimately I voted third party instead of voting Clinton myself, and had I known how bad it truly could have been, I not only would have voted for Hillary I would have campaigned for her as well. I'm a person who has voted both Republican and Democrat in national and state elections since the day I was 18, back when I thought that my vote counted and mattered. Hell I even threw Ross Perot a vote one time. This time, I let my wife fill out my ballot and sign for me because I realized that this election was not going to come down to one vote and so voting was a waste of time. I know that she didn't vote for Trump though.
There you go bro. There's your very first case of election fraud! Hard evidence! Call Trump! Call hannity! Hold a press conference...
Before he died, Charles krauthammer, in talking about the presidency of Donald Trump, stated that the American democracy and the Constitution of the United States was strong enough to withstand the constant barrage of threats that this presidency imposed upon those ideals. What a ringing endorsement from a lifelong conservative and a dying man who wanted to meet his maker with a modicum of truth.
Sorry if that offends you Tony. Sorry if that offends you anybody else who voted for Trump once or twice or likes the guy to this day. He is literally mentally unstable, and he is literally a threat to democracy who spits on the very ideals that I hold the dearest--if the cards aren't going his way and the political winds aren't blowing in his direction. I was glad that Twitter and Facebook kicked him off of their platforms, only because I knew that in his bedroom and his living room with Gloria playing in the background he was throwing a little 6-year-old hissy fit like my son when I take away his video games.
And for the record I don't preach God. I haven't been to church since I was a child.

And as for being wishy-washy on masks, let me offer two points.
First, Trump would not allow his cabinet or his closest advisors or the people who had access to the oval office to actually wear masks, especially on camera. When the good doctor over at the CDC, the guy who knows more about infectious diseases than anybody else in the country, contradicted the president and some of the things that he said, he was literally taken off the air and disappeared al-Qaeda style, like he never existed. I often wondered during that time whether or not he had a garbage bag dripped over his head and duct taped while he was sitting in the back of a van like something you would see in Homeland.
Second, This was a brand new disease. We didn't know anything about it for a while and then we knew very little about it for a long while after that. However, in our meme, gif-driven world of one-liners, one-upsmanship, brinksmanship, and win at all costs, any inconsistency was immediately tagged as mind control, thought control, freedom control, American control by whoever was on the other side of the political spectrum. I would lament that the powers of our nation created this situation or nobody talks and everybody is looking for talking points on the 6:00 news, but the truth of matter is that you and I and everybody else, Joe citizen, sheep of the world, are the ones who made this situation we are in today because we only watch the television shows that stir us up emotionally. The shows are filled with talking has to play to these self-indulgent feelings we have inside of ourselves, and they're the ones that get the big advertisement dollars, so they're ones that are on all the time!
This is why I don't watch any news channel, don't read any news website, and don't listen to any news magazine programs whatsoever. I'm doing my part to end the demagoguery and divisiveness that has infected our society and our great country.
But I'll make an exception for Trump.

I'm scheduled for my second Moderna tomorrow. I have never gotten a flu shot. I'm only getting the Wuhan vaxx cause I have a surgeon wants to whip a bag of rocks outta me where my gall bladder used to be, and I don't want some pandemic protocol to stand in his way. Otherwise, I'm good... save it for someone who needs it more.
My wife gets a flu shot every year. But then she promptly gets the flu. That's why she won't shoot the Wuhan, is for fear of catching it. Rather stay home and send me out for groceries.
Which one of us deserves a gold (since yellow is a reprehensible thing to say) star?

I guess now I hate a whole group of people! I'm finding out so much about myself lol. If that's what you want to believe, I can't stop you, Even though I've never said any of those terms, save for Trumpkin. I do hate him because I know it's in his heart. His heart is filled with nothing but himself and he prays upon the American public to feed his insatiable ego.
But I don't hate anti-vaxxers or anti maskers or anti-democrats or anti anybody else. I once hated my old man for abusing me. I'm over it now, total apathy. That's it though. That and Trump.

I completely understand this even though I disagree with it and I don't hate you or your yoga teacher or your classmate who is an ER nurse. I'll offer a little perspective though. My niece played an entire high school basketball season, which has much more physical exertion than a Saturday yoga class at the community center, and she played it, on the court, wearing a mask the entire time covering her nose and mouth. Perspective. But go ahead and rebel. It's your choice as an American. At least you have principles. At least you have a somewhat consistent point of view. All Trump has is himself.
Speaking of perspective, I offer this as perspective. It was filmed two generations ago by a person who is considered by some people to be a pervert. Here's a message I can get behind.
Do I hate you or not respect you or refuse to interact with you or refuse to trade cigars with you or refuse to break bread with you or have a drink with you or hang out with you and have a good time and because you don't believe in Corona virus or masks or vaccines or anything else? Of course not. I will still bomb Tony with all of my cameroons when David puts out the call. I'll still come visit you in the lobby of your hotel and offer to have you over or take you out for dinner if you visit Vegas. Everyone of you, even those who I disagree with, are good people in my estimation, for as much as I can estimate you in this strange world of web acquaintances and friends and kinship.

@VegasFrank
You mentioned Trump's accolades.
Oregon is a democratic state where the governor/dictator is a strong Trump hater.
And she made a worse mess of this than Trump could ever think of doing.
From one minute to the next, this state had no idea what they were supposed to be doing.
In fact, it got so bad that our town mayor threw up his hands and went, I don't know.
Don't get me wrong. I don't like Trump. But you cannot convince me that the Oregon problems had anything to do with Trump.
In Fumo Pax Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
Out of everything above, one thing stands out:
"Divide and conquer has definitely triumphed over trust and freedom",
per @webmost . He's right.
There are two forces primarily responsible for this. The Democrat and Republican parties.
Interesting to find that @VegasFrank 's voting record is pretty close to mine. I'll keep this brief, if possible, I've never cared for Donald Trump. Fair to middlin' game show host, I guess, but not much impressive. So, there's that.
What's far worse is the tendency of some of his supporters, some, not all, to create a hero-worship he's our guy right or wrong cult around him. These people also are those who simply follow orders and do not question authority, at least, not authority that they think represents whatever tiny ideas motivate them. So, the Republicans have been a problem for me for the last several years.
I wanted Kasich.
But, the Democrats haven't done any better. I don't believe in their tactics. They don't give a crap about anything but ascending to power, as far as I can tell, and they don't care how much hatred they have to stir up or endorse to get there.
Trump echoes Uncle Adolf's sentiments regarding closing the borders. Spreading fear that some foreign element is invading us and "they" are all rapists, murderers, thugs, racketeers, just as the Third Reich maintained about the influx of Jewish settlers from the east.
Democrats stir up minorities in the U.S. telling them that they deserve all kinds of free stuff because people they're descended from were treated badly by people witih a certain skin color, as if it were ALL of the people with that skin color. That's called racism, in case anyone didn't know.
I don't support people who condone racism.
I don't support hero-worshippers looking for a one-man act that will give them whatever they want.
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right...
Sure gets frustrating.

@0patience I don't know enough about Oregon. No offense, it's not on my radar. In my opinion Trump botched covid 19 when he didn't acknowledge how serious it was in December and January and February. I think he bought it when he didn't follow the advice of his center for disease control. For the record, I think that either party would have botched it and I think that no matter who was in office, there would have been unhappy campers. Fair enough.
And for the record, I don't hate Trump because of policies or finance or anything else. I hate him because he treats democracy like his own toy and he doesn't respect it and doesn't care about it. Can't convince me of otherwise unfortunately.
@d_blades I hear you. The end just doesn't justify the mean for me. There's something to be said about doing it the right way. I can't get behind a bad guy because he's the enemy of my enemy. Especially when he's my enemy too. He's the enemy of democracy, so he is my enemy because of that.
@webmost Washington DC was full of them on January 6th. The FBI and Homeland security has been snuffing them out ever since. Yep, they are the radical right and no, I don't think that we have any of them here. But I have met some. Scary.
@Amos_Umwhat mad props. Even when we disagree, which we don't on everything you said in your last post, you're a stand up guy.

Let's eat, GrandMa. / Let's eat GrandMa. -- Punctuation saves lives
It'll be fine once the swelling goes down.
Carry on.
Then just a misguided attempt at poorly placed humor on his part?
The yellow star gimmick actually dates back to the middle ages. Not a not-see invention any more than the beanie. Somebody needs a chill pill.
I never promised you a good joke; only lots of them.
@webmost
You should realize by now, that any kind of comment will offend someone.
It isn't a matter of if it will offend, but whom it will offend.
And to what degree it will offend. 😉
Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
"If you do not read the newspapers you're uninformed. If you do read the newspapers, you're misinformed." -- Mark Twain
I actually think if masking had been a recommendation, in the beginning, it would have went over much better. Mandatory just goes against a lot of peoples nature.
Don't let the wife know what you spend on guns, ammo or cigars.
No, I’m not particularly offended. But come on man. That’s pretty offensive and it was said to offend. @webmost can construct a well said, well put sentence. I’m pretty sure they are also well thought out. I hope you’re not offended.
Yeah, we can also say that swástikas were used way before the Nazīs too, but if you see one you know what you're thinking of first. @webmost is also savvy enough to know this, And so I find the charming blissful befuddlement a little disingenuous....
"A growing number of major retailers are lifting mask requirements for those who are fully inoculated after new federal guidance, largely moving to an honor system in which they trust that only vaccinated people will bare their faces." --Boston Globe today.
Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
@VegasFrank
Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
@0patience
I’m offended by the length of these posts.
But I'll make an exception for Trump.
... and to hate so many for what you are so certain their thoughts must be.
A person may have any number of good reasons for or against this precaution without being a vaxxer, an anti vaxxer, a hated Trumpkin, a hate filled anti-Trumpkin, a moron, a right-wing racist bigot fascist deplorable conspiritard mysogynist re-thug-lican teabagger libtard snowflake cuck, or anything else media want to lump them with so that their target audience can hate them easier.
Divide and conquer has definitely triumphed over trust and freedom.
Same with masks. Friday, my yoga class quietly rebelled. Took our damn masks off so's we could breathe. Wasn't my idea; tho it has been my wish. Gal who first said "screw this", I believe she's an ER nurse. We were all glad to follow suit. Hey, you're on your mat. each mat is distant, it's a breathing exercise. It was such a delight just to see human faces! Anyone worried about it is welcome to go out and get themselves a damn shot. Unblocking your breathing to do breathing exercises doesn't mean you do or don't go "right to the slaughterhouse". Doesn't make you a hateful anything. But the whole gym coulda got fined and shut down if someone finked, cause that's the tyrannical level to which our society has sunk.
O'er the la-and of the regulated
And the home of the circumspect
Here's a message I can get behind.
https://youtu.be/k0GCGKTTLkE
Do I hate you or not respect you or refuse to interact with you or refuse to trade cigars with you or refuse to break bread with you or have a drink with you or hang out with you and have a good time and because you don't believe in Corona virus or masks or vaccines or anything else? Of course not. I will still bomb Tony with all of my cameroons when David puts out the call. I'll still come visit you in the lobby of your hotel and offer to have you over or take you out for dinner if you visit Vegas. Everyone of you, even those who I disagree with, are good people in my estimation, for as much as I can estimate you in this strange world of web acquaintances and friends and kinship.
tl;dr
@VegasFrank
Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
While it's undeniable that Trump acted like a douche bag, I preferred "most" of his actual policies over what is coming down the pike now.
Don't let the wife know what you spend on guns, ammo or cigars.
Whew! Lot's of thoughts and emotions.
"If you do not read the newspapers you're uninformed. If you do read the newspapers, you're misinformed." -- Mark Twain
I've never met one of them. Heard about them a thousand times. Never met one even once. Do we have one here?
The rest of what you say is spot on.
You hire a clown, you get a circus.
