I broke a sandal strap right when my daughter and her boyfriend were coming over for dinner. After dinner we set up the projector to watch a movie and I stepped in dog 💩 with the broken sandal, I guess so sandals are done.

As expected I woke to another couple inches of snow and no power. Not uncommon. Have to cut a few dozen trees that are bowed over the lane before I can get anywhere today.
I'm still troubled by what I did for that Klondike bar...
spending way too much time watching the bear-cam. The bears are winning but how they can eat an entire salmon, bones, skin, head and all is difficult to stomach, lol.
Saturday night our master bath tub faucet blew out the cartridge so we have hot water filling the tub with no way to shut it off except turning all water off to the house.
It's now Tuesday morning and waiting on the plumber at noon. Living without running water is a major PITA.

Most water heaters have their own shutoffs. If that is true for you, then you could have at least cold water to the rest of the house. Just keep in mind you may need to turn off the heater if it gets low water level in the tank. Don't want to burn it up.

Along as there is a shutoff on the cold water input side to the water heater you shouldn't have to worry about it getting low. The pressure from the well pump or city input is what moves the water through the tank and if you don't have a shutoff on the cold water input to water heater you need to figure out who installed it and kick them in the balls
But after more thought if it's electric as @CtheHam said might as well shut off the breaker no sense heating water you can't use anyway

Unfortunately it's more trouble to access the water heater than it is to just shut all the water off. We have a tankless WH in the attic, and the access is through the laundry room ceiling, so I have to bring in a ladder and climb up through a ceiling panel.
Plumber came by today and had no magic fix for the tub valves so he grabbed his vibrator and buzzed an access hole in the sheetrock opposite the backside of the tub. The piping is like PEX tubing so he cut both of them and pushed on some sharkbite caps as a temporary fix. I have replacement cartridges coming from pFister so I guess when the parts come in we might gain a clue on how to install them. At least I will have a shutoff now.
Also having to deal with this forced me to notice I never fixed a fan mounted wall switch, so I finally got that fixed and forced the wife to come all the way in there just to flip the switch but didn't get much fanfare

Should have told her about the plumber's vibrator that cuts holes through walls, that should get a rise.

If you are outside this evening enjoying a post prandial smoke:
ST. LOUIS (KTVI) — Stargazers are in for a treat as the Draconid meteor shower peaks Friday evening across the Northern Hemisphere.
EarthSky reports that, unlike many meteor showers, the Draconids are short-lived, with this one expected to last through Sunday.
Most of the displays will occur in the evening rather than after midnight.
EarthSky suggests using the Big Dipper to star-hop to the star Polaris. Polaris marks the end star in the handle of the Little Dipper.
According to NASA, the Draconid meteors are caused when Earth collides with bits of debris shed by periodic comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner. This is why this shower used to be called the Giacobinids.
The Draconid does not usually produce a rich meteor shower. EarthSky said you can expect about 5 to 10 meteors per hour.
Last night as I was coming down from my studio after a evening smoke a little dog appeared. It was a young small male beagle mix no collar.. The dog followed me to our fence gate as I went into the house. We live surrounded by woods and I figured the dog would go home. Not a chance though. Somehow he made it past our fence and was soon outside our door crying to get in. This has happened before and we knew not to feed it. In the morning I went back up to my studio for a rare am smoke and the dog, who spent the night on our porch followed me up. I figured it may belong to some folks down the road so when I was finished with my robusto I walked the half mile down the road with the dog following me. It wasn't welcome at those folks house and their dogs chased it back towards me. My cell rang and it was my other calling saying she located the owners via Facebook and the owners we on the way to our house. I tried to get the dog to follow me but he took off up a steep bank into the woods. I had to get on my hands and knees to get through the bushes but I finally caught the dog and carried it back a half mile to our house, It was heavy. The owners showed up and I found the name of the dog was Copper and he belonged to a young girl with autism and the girl really loved her dog and was heartbroken because he was lost.. There was a tearful reunion. The girls father thanked me and I found he had served in the Marine Corps. I made the suggestion to have a collar made with ID for Copper. As they were leaving we exchanged a Semper Fi. If Copper comes back over the ridge and shows up again we know who to call.
So a juvenile skunk got in the dog lot. Dumb dog wanted to play with it and he just wanted away. I grab a pole to try and separate them long enough to allow the skunk to get out. My wife runs in the house. Apparently she still can’t remember which clip goes with which rifle so she comes outta the house with the 308 😂. She is mad now cause I couldn’t stop laughing.
5’5” running across the yard with a 308 long barrel, w/ bipod, and 8.5x32 scope for a 5 lbs critter.
Septic backed up this morning after 2 showers morning load of laundry and God only knows how many flushes of the toilet. Was informed my drain field was failing which I have suspected quietly as to not get wife worked up. So now do I just go all out and replace the whole sh>t or just drain field. My tank is concrete so in theory it's fine but it's small
You’re gonna have to replace the tank at some point, my recommendation is do them both at once. It’s a huge bill but it’ll save you a ton of headaches.

Good thing this isn't a facebook group, yesterday would have been hell.
