I don't know if this is a queen or just a really big variety.

I think the queen stays in the hive, in most cases. I've seen bee's swarm and have been told it's two queens splitting into a new hive.

Don't let the wife know what you spend on guns, ammo or cigars.

It isn't a bee, but some variety of hornet. Here's a better picture...

Looks like a bald faced hornet. They will hunt and eat flys. I seriously doubt it’s a Queen. Probably just a hornet after the flys.

Once it died and I could open the trap, I realized it wasn't a queen, just a big azz hornet! I was hoping to snag a queen this early spring because my brother was pretty sure they had a nest in this area last year when he lived here. Probably just wishful thinking on my part.

Laundry is done, pre-heating the coffee roaster, roasting four batches today, five pounds of green coffee going through the roaster today. Should last a bit since I won't be able to roast for another four weeks instead of my normal two weeks.

My second eldest son bought a car for $1,300. He is now complaining about the amount of repairs it needs. Which wouldn't bother me too much if he also wasn't so unwilling to learn how to do the repairs himself (replacing hubs, tie rods, fixing the seat belt, etc.).

It's time the boy took greater strides to becoming a man. I'm not bailing him out of this one.

Some people just are not mechanical by nature. Or maybe he heard you cussing a frozen nut that broke off a stud on your car and doesn't want to go there, lol.

I’ve got a group of birds hanging out in my big pine tree. I’m not sure what kind they are because I’m too lazy to look it up…but I will eventually. They don’t sound as bright and cheerful as the birds that plague Frank. These sound like a cross between a cat meowing and a baby crying. Very tranquil 🙄

I recognize that sound, but I always assumed it was a squirrel in distress or anger. Maybe that's where the word caterwauling comes from.

I'm giving a cob bowl a sun bath today. Great for cobs, not great for briar or stems, so I removed the stem first.
