I think the queen stays in the hive, in most cases. I've seen bee's swarm and have been told it's two queens splitting into a new hive.
It isn't a bee, but some variety of hornet. Here's a better picture...

Looks like a bald faced hornet. They will hunt and eat flys. I seriously doubt it’s a Queen. Probably just a hornet after the flys.
Once it died and I could open the trap, I realized it wasn't a queen, just a big azz hornet! I was hoping to snag a queen this early spring because my brother was pretty sure they had a nest in this area last year when he lived here. Probably just wishful thinking on my part.

Laundry is done, pre-heating the coffee roaster, roasting four batches today, five pounds of green coffee going through the roaster today. Should last a bit since I won't be able to roast for another four weeks instead of my normal two weeks.

I listen to some classical music every morning, both sides of one vinyl LP, each side accompanied by a mug of coffee. The LP's come from thrift stores, estate sales, and ebay, and are in no particular order and I work my way through them one at a time, not allowing myself to skip any.
Today, I found this album, for today's listening pleasure.
The problem is I've never seen this LP before. It's brand new, still sealed, and I have no **** idea how it got into my collection... none whatsoever, and it's making me crazy. My best guess is that someone snuck into my house and put it there, but that's not likely. It's either that or I'm going nuts.
At least it was a good listen, in my 15" subwoofer got a good workout.
My second eldest son bought a car for $1,300. He is now complaining about the amount of repairs it needs. Which wouldn't bother me too much if he also wasn't so unwilling to learn how to do the repairs himself (replacing hubs, tie rods, fixing the seat belt, etc.).
It's time the boy took greater strides to becoming a man. I'm not bailing him out of this one.

Some people just are not mechanical by nature. Or maybe he heard you cussing a frozen nut that broke off a stud on your car and doesn't want to go there, lol.
I’ve got a group of birds hanging out in my big pine tree. I’m not sure what kind they are because I’m too lazy to look it up…but I will eventually. They don’t sound as bright and cheerful as the birds that plague Frank. These sound like a cross between a cat meowing and a baby crying. Very tranquil 🙄
I made the 1-hour drive to the warehouse and came home w/ 600# of beans. It gets harder each time but I'm grateful to be able to do it and for the privilege of roasting for some fine folks.
I wasn't going to post about this but wanted to reassure @Patrickbrick that his mainline hookup will be around for a while.

Don't let the wife know what you spend on guns, ammo or cigars.

Saw a ton of Yak stuff
That's no bull!
@deadman , Yaks, or Scottish Highland Cattle?
I thought the Scots were only into 🐑?
Trapped in the People's Communist Republic of Massachusetts.
It’s all yak to me
Hairy and adorable.
Exactly.
I believe I'm losing my mind.

I’m glad Peter finally found out he’s loosing it.
MOW badge received.
^^^ losing. I may be senile but my spelling and grammar are still up to snuff.
Looks like something a cigar smoker would do.

Catbirds?
I dunno Edward, maybe.

Yep, that’s them. Noisy little shíts.
I recognize that sound, but I always assumed it was a squirrel in distress or anger. Maybe that's where the word caterwauling comes from.
Be nice, lol. They eat bugs.
I'm giving a cob bowl a sun bath today. Great for cobs, not great for briar or stems, so I removed the stem first.
Today on this old house…
Time for a new heat pump?
