    I'm a towboat captain on the inland rivers here in the US. Mississippi , Ohio and Illinois rivers. 

    I too was a towboat captain, actually worked for the same company as you, I am now in maritime education. Worked as an instructor for Houston Marine in Kenner, LA. Now I do curriculum development. I started in the New Orleans harbor back in 1972.
    Nice. What prompted that change? They have a couple places up here. I've toyed with the idea seeing if they need instructors. It's just not as enjoyable as it used to be. Especially with all the new regulations that are coming.

    Attitudes toward marijuana, across the country have shifted in the last decade.  
    They still call it a gateway drug, and perhaps that's accurate, it was a gateway drug for me.
    I took my first hit, and realized I had been lied to about it all my life.  It wasn't anything like I'd been told.
    The true problem came with my next thought.
    I wonder what else they've lied to me about?
    The other drugs are the life takers, and they ARE deadly.
    I sure wish I could go back in time to correct a few mistakes.

    I was a Sheetmetal Journeyman for 16 years. After the economy tanked in 2009 I joined my wife as a dog groomer. We have our own shop and although I miss fabricating, I'm pretty happy with where I am.........that is, until they make me King.

    I've tried to make this point many times over the last 40 years.  OF COURSE it's a gateway drug.  Because, and only because the corrupt bahstids put it on the wrong side of the fence.  And all kids are born Lawyers, and as soon as they find out they've been LIED to about marijuana, they then turn to their supplier to find out what else is out there that they've been lied to about.

    I once counseled  my 15 year old niece about it.
     I told her marijuana by itself is relatively harmless, but it never walks alone, and it's friends are killers

    Did you know that the cotton and timber industry lobbied hard to have it banned?
    Hemp industry was killing the pulp and cotton industries.
    Hemp can grow almost anywhere in almost any conditions and cost a third to grow and harvest than pulp. 

    The timber industry dump a lot of money into lobbying against it.

    I am a field tech. I work on heavy equipment and go where they break down.

    This is my rolling office. 


    When the highway looks like this, I'm the one who has to get to the machines to fix them to clear it.
