“It has been a source of great pain to me to have met with so many among [my] opponents who had not the liberality to distinguish between political and social opposition; who transferred at once to the person, the hatred they bore to his political opinions.” —Thomas Jefferson (1808)
Always astonishing. No end in sight. We are divided between the party of spend more and the party of tax less. Which approach reduces debt?

Ryan sez going after Social Security and Medicare is next in an attempt to rein in federal spending. Meanwhile:
Cowen estimates that Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), Google (GOOG, GOOGL) and Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) will save a combined $4.5B on taxes in 2018 thanks to the GOP tax bill, while the tech giants should also benefit from the measure's capex expensing provision. The firm forecasts those savings to translate into big EPS boosts for each company, with Amazon boasting an expected upside of 24%. Google and Facebook will both get an EPS bump of 8%.
When Kennedy first employed the slogan "A rising tide lifts all boats" to explain his proposed drastic tax cuts for the rich, my Dad expostulated "That's all fine and dandy if you own a yacht!" But JFK was a Democrat, handsome, cute wife, and got shot; so he's all kindsa cool, even to this day.
When Reagan proposed trickle down economics, elites sneered at Reaganomics. Then it worked.
When Trump proposes the same, he's a billionaire **** heartless hateful villain.
The bottom line is, you can only cut taxes for those who cut the checks for taxes. You cannot cut four and a half bil off my tax check cause I don't directly cut the check for four and a half bil. Too many zeroes for my bank balance. Today's Dimocrats thrive by fomenting envy and resentment. Their first commandment is the tenth commandment backwards. Everyone knows the fact that that, in the end, Amazon does not pay any taxes. At all. Their tax gets tacked onto the price of the used book I just now ordered. I pay it. Not them. I guarantee you, Bezos is not gonna fork out four bil from his own pocket and move into the trailer park down the road from me. He's gonna divvy it up and add it to the price. Fundamental. I pay it; I just don't directly cut the check. If Amazon has more money to invest in everything from warehouses to delivery drones, good. More food stamps are not p;rogress; more Amazon is. The easier we make it for Bezos to build that new warehouse, the easier it is for that cat on food stamps to go get a job there. Even if I were to invest in my peanut of a business, and I were to expense it, same way as Amazon, same tax bill, I still can't get but a few bucks diff outta it. But I'd be glad to ever reach that level.
I tell you, you cannot succeed by penalizing success.
Do not fall for socialist propaganda.
Stop spending. That's the real deal.

Does that mean I won't be able to laugh my arse off when the guys in their underwear come on TV and start dancing to it, and my wife is laughing so hard she ends up on the floor in a totally uncontrolled fit of loud, fanatic and did I say LOUD laughter. It is one of the few things everyone looks forward to. DAMN GRINCH
Tho someone quipped that Jones' margin of victory was so small that Moore was tempted to molest it.

I thought so too, until I got my mouth washed out with soap.

Good point, I probably should have said "when we used to pretend that...".
Still, I think we're getting a lot closer to Fahrenheit 451.
And, I say again, it's coming at us from both sides.

How can you have free speech when no one knows the truth about anything? The FBI, "Colleges" , msm, hollywood and so many other travesties handing out one lie after another. MY God, "Jingle Bells" is racist......................
There is the rub......finding the truth. If you get all the news from the same source or even different sources from a similar viewpoint then you only get one side of what's out there.
Where the $%\! is Walter Cronkite when we need him.

The problem with the truth is the the. That's the whole reason for unfettered speech.

He shot an officer 3 times. That same officer showed up at his sentencing and tossed him a bottle of lube.
Classic.
