“It has been a source of great pain to me to have met with so many among [my] opponents who had not the liberality to distinguish between political and social opposition; who transferred at once to the person, the hatred they bore to his political opinions.” —Thomas Jefferson (1808)

Hey... that takes the aestheticism right out of it. Turns it into what looks like a made up word for a patented drug.

woo-woo-Ginsberg! from The Nighttrain Show, brought to you by New England Dragway. It's a regional thing I guess from the pre-FM radio days, back when wearing white socks and having taps on your loafers was cool.
Hepcats
Zoot suits
Pegged pants
Suede shoes (mine weren’t blue, they were a beautiful doeskin grey and they went wonderfully well with my hunter-green pegged slacks, pegged to “a tight 16”...)
The slacks had a rise a bit higher than normal and ‘tunnel loops’ instead of belt loops. The higher rise was a carryover (I think) from the zoot suits.
